Blake Hart-Wilson
EXPLORING RAW MATERIALS, ENTROPY AND THE SUBCONSCIOUS AS FORCES OF CREATIVE TRANSFORMATION.
-
Blake Hart-Wilson is a British contemporary artist based in East London and a graduate of the Royal College of Art. Working across painting, sculpture, installation, moving image and performance, his practice explores the absurdities of human existence, the unpredictable nature of creativity and the aesthetic possibilities of overlooked materials.
Through an artistic language of derision, naivety and absurdity, Hart-Wilson investigates the tension between order and disorder, intention and accident. His work embraces entropy, dysfunction and the subconscious as generative forces, revealing unexpected beauty in the discarded, the neglected and the seemingly insignificant.

For RAW STATES の, curated by off-RCA, Hart-Wilson presents works from Coming up for Air, a series of mixed-media paintings incorporating industrial materials, rubble, dirt and discarded components. Exploring the raw state of creativity itself, the works question conventional distinctions between construction and decay, material and meaning, intention and chance.
