Misia-O’
Misia-O’ is a French-born multidisciplinary artist and olfactory designer based in the United Kingdom. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, London, where she completed an MA in Photography, her practice brings together scent, photography, installation and material experimentation to investigate embodied perception, memory and transformation. Working across visual and olfactory media, she explores how sensory experiences shape our relationships with materials, environments and one another. Misia-O’ participates in RAW STATES の at Niche.Show London 2026, curated by Marie Camara for off-RCA.

Misia-O’ is a French-born multidisciplinary artist working at the intersection of olfactory art, photography, installation and sensory research.
She holds an MA in Photography from the Royal College of Art, London, and has undertaken specialist training in perfumery at Cinquième Sens in Grasse, France. Her background in interior architecture informs her understanding of space as a physical and perceptual experience.
At the centre of her practice is an investigation into the relationship between matter, perception and memory. Scent operates not as an accompaniment to visual art, but as an artistic medium in its own right: invisible yet materially present, capable of evoking associations that resist fixed interpretation.
Through installations, photographic experimentation and original olfactory compositions, Misia-O’ examines the unstable boundaries between the visible and invisible, presence and absence, materiality and transformation.
Her research-led practice considers the body as an active participant in the production of meaning, exploring how sensory encounters can generate personal interpretation and collective experience.
Her work moves between contemporary art, sensory culture and spatial experimentation, challenging conventional hierarchies between the senses.

For RAW STATES の, Misia-O’ approaches scent as a material in continual transformation, investigating its relationship with the body, memory and the physical environment.
Unlike a fixed image or sculptural object, an olfactory composition exists through processes of evaporation, diffusion and perception. Its material presence is temporary, unfolding differently according to the conditions of the space and the individual experiencing it.
Her practice considers this instability as an artistic possibility. Scent becomes a means of examining the boundaries between matter and atmosphere, presence and disappearance, the intimate and the collective.
Through olfactory experimentation and interdisciplinary encounters, Misia-O’ investigates how invisible materials can alter our perception of visible forms and generate connections between physical experience, memory and imagination.
Within RAW STATES の, her contribution extends the exhibition's investigation of raw materials beyond their visible properties, proposing olfaction as another way of encountering matter in transformation.

For RAW STATES の, Misia-O’ develops a new body of work investigating the relationship between photographic imagery, organic matter and material transformation.
Through experimental image transfers onto natural and ephemeral surfaces, alongside suspended translucent structures, she explores the unstable boundaries between image and object, surface and substance, preservation and decay.
The photographic image is no longer confined to a conventional support. It becomes embedded within matter, subject to its textures, irregularities and processes of transformation.
Light, transparency and shadow introduce another dimension, allowing images to appear, dissolve and re-emerge according to the viewer's position and the surrounding environment.
The work investigates how materials retain, alter or ultimately surrender the images imposed upon them, questioning the permanence of photography and the fragile conditions through which memory takes physical form.
